It is common knowledge by now that home prices in the U.S. have fallen substantially in recent years. The Federal Reserve has gone so far as to state at many FOMC meetings over the past year that the U.S. housing market remains “depressed.”
However, one house that certainly does not fit the Fed’s description is the six-story-tall, 17,000-square-foot Gold Pyramid House.
Located in Wadsworth, Illinois – about an hour’s drive north of Chicago – the price of Jim and Linda Onan’s home has likely increased substantially in recent years as the yellow metal has surged to new all-time highs.
Considered to be the largest 24-karat gold-plated object in North America, the home contains several other unique features. The Gold Pyramid House is located on an island and surrounded by a giant moat, has a 50-foot statue of King Tut, and a three car garage topped by three smaller gold pyramids.
